Powerhouse “ZOOM” Networking – Book Now!

Face to Face Networking?  To be frank, we love “Zoom” online networking … the efficiency and the simplicity – no time wasted driving around, no vehicle emissions or costs, quick, simple, HIGH QUALITY “Zoom” networking.   Why spend money ‘joining’ a networking group and WASTE money driving around – visit our amazing Zoom meetings and discover the efficient route to quality networking!

Here at Yorkshire Powerhouse, we offer a sensible online networking solution that isn’t cringe-worthy, boring or ineffective!

POWERHOUSE “ZOOM” NETWORKING meetings run for 1 hour … everyone attending will present a 60-second elevator pitch to the other attending businesses.  You’ll also hear two 5-minute Development Presentations (not sales pitches!) and we even have a 3-minute tea break halfway through so you can grab a quick cuppa and take your eyes off the screen for a moment!

For just £12.00 +VAT per meeting, you will meet other quality Yorkshire businesses and you’ll end the session buzzing with energy, new connections, ideas and opportunities.  And, just to be clear, there are no membership fees or long-term commitments to make.

After the meeting, we send you an attendee list that provides everyone’s name and LinkedIn URL’s to help you drive up those connections and opportunities that follow from a meeting.

So … if you want to promote your business, make some noise, take on some business ideas and have a little fun, then put the POWERHOUSE into your networking diary and “ZOOM” into one of our online meetings:

Booking Terms … Frequently Asked Questions … Other Information

Q: If I make a booking and then change my mind can I transfer my booking or request a refund?
A: More than 7 days notice: Our refund policy is simple … if you cancel by email (below) more than 7 days before the meeting takes place then we will refund 80% of your payment or you can ask to transfer your booking to another date/time and, if there are available places at this alternative date, we will be happy to transfer you without charge or penalty.  This 80% policy means we’re not out of pocket as a result of card processing fees.
A: Less than 7 days notice: If you cancel with less than 7 days notice then there is no refund or booking transfer option available.
For all cancellation requests, please email networking@yorkshirepowerhouse.com.

Q: Are there any physical face-to-face meetings being organised?
A: We’ve got nothing planned at the moment.  To be frank, we’ve embraced the Zoom networking route and all its benefits – sure, Zoom meetings lack some of the ‘personal connection’ of physical networking … BUT, Zoom also means zero travel time, zero stress (resulting from travel), zero pollution from all those individual car journeys, zero disappointment when you walk into a room and realise it’s a poorly attended meeting (or you already know everyone!), zero creeps (yes, sometimes creepy people go networking!), etc.  Unfortunately there are a lot of badly run / poorly hosted Zoom meetings but when you’ve got the Powerhouse in charge that isn’t an issue here!  AND – remember, no membership fees, no ongoing expenses to fund head office operations – just pay and play at Powerhouse Networking!

Q: If I’m not in Yorkshire, can I join in the Zoom meetings?
A: Perhaps!  The aims of the Yorkshire Powerhouse project are to promote Yorkshire businesses in all their forms … if you have a head office elsewhere but are regularly in the area with strong connections to the region (with local clients, colleagues, etc) then feel free to get involved.  The ‘test’ is this … would you practically be a regular attendee at a physical meeting in the Yorkshire area – if not then, unfortunately, our networking meetings are not for you.

Q: What is the typical ‘size/type’ of organisation that attend these networking events?
A: The attendees tend to reflect the ‘normal’ business population of the UK with a handful of large businesses and the balance being made up of SME’s and sole traders … but with networking, it’s important to remember that sometimes, it’s not necessarily the person you’re talking to, they might be able to introduce you on (or could even be related to your dream prospect!). So keep an open mind!

Q: Is there a membership fee?
A: Absolutely not – we’re interested in connecting businesses, not making profit for a head office function!  Any surplus simply goes to further promote the Yorkshire Powerhouse project to SME’s and pre-start businesses in the region.

Q: Can I be one of the Development Speakers?
A: Possibly!  Clearly being one of the speakers is a great opportunity to raise your profile so here’s the deal.  1.) There needs to be a vacant slot to speak – contact us to check the meetings you are interested in. 2.) Your presentation must not run over 5 minutes and must not be a sales pitch. 3.) We discourage PowerPoint presentations (we want ‘you’ to engage the audience more than a screen!) but if you do want to use the Zoom Screenshare feature, please let us know in advance. 4.) Your presentation must NOT be a sales pitch in any way … instead, we ask that you present educational content, ideally of a business advice nature (you will still get a 60 second elevator pitch slot to present your ‘sales’ message).

Q: Do I need to bring or pass referrals?
Definitely not – we’re not a referrals organisation.  However, if you choose to build a relationship with another business owner and pass work to them, they will be very grateful (and that might be very useful to you!).

Q: What if there’s someone I don’t get on with?
That’s life … we operate Powerhouse Networking with an eye for quality so if someone attends a meeting and they’re upsetting others, they will get blocked from future meetings.  At least with online networking, you won’t be in the same room!  To be honest, we don’t like the ‘creeps’ being in our meetings any more than you do!

Q: Can I book a second colleague to the same meeting?
A: No … sorry, but we restrict the bookings to one person per business to allow up to 39 other businesses to join in too!  However, we’re fine if two of you (or more if you’re all friendly enough) want to use the same Zoom window at once but only one name will appear on the attendee list.

Q: I represent a charity/Chamber/Council/non-profit, etc – can I attend for free?
A: Sorry, but no!  Our online meetings are open to anyone and you would be most welcome to get involved, but there are no free places available and you need to book a place the same as anyone else.

Q: Do you offer any training for someone not experienced with networking?
A: Yes, we offer a 2 hour ‘Networking Masterclass’ session – click on the following link for more details: https://powerhousenetworking.co.uk/networking-masterclass/

Q: I’ve got a discount code – how do I use it?
A: At the start of each month, we issue a special 50% discount code to all our GREAT Yorkshire Directory listees as a ‘thank you’ for supporting the project.  These codes are deleted and reissued at the start of each month.  When you add meetings to your cart, there is a ‘Coupon code’ prompt where you can enter your discount code … please note that the discount will only be applied to meetings that qualify.  Remember, we charge no membership fees or monthly subs for our networking meetings but any business listed in the Directory automatically receives this 50% discount.

Have you got a question that we’ve not answered here – please let us know and we’ll be happy to help – just email networking@yorkshirepowerhouse.com

Don’t miss your place, book now as we limit the numbers to 40 attendees!
